Love, Happiness, and other Friday Thoughts
You are loved... What a wonderful sentiment, and what a fantastic way to start a Friday, just knowing that you are loved. When you strip away all of the complications of life, it's there as plain as day. We are all loved.
I took this photo last spring; however, the circumstance that brought all of these people together is far from a happy tale. Earlier that day, a man decided to climb to the top of an electrical tower, believing he no longer had a reason to live. Before long, hundreds of people had gathered at the scene. They chanted things like "choose life" and held signs of encouragement. As night drew closer, electrical workers cut the lines connected to the tower, and specialists used a boom lift to go to the top of the tower and talk the man down. The event lasted into the wee hours of the night, but the good news is, the man got down safely.
Over the past year, there have been so many reasons to forget about the love surrounding us. And finding happiness has been a struggle, to say the least. I wish a had the answers, a way to fix it all, but I don't. What I do know is losing yourself in a passion works wonders for the soul. While on furlough last year, I rediscovered a love for painting, and ever since, any chance I get, I'm painting something.
A few weeks ago, I was having an incredibly stressful week. I was anticipating an event that was causing stress and anxiety. It seemed all week thoughts of this stress were running through my head. When the weekend finally came, I sat down to work on a painting, and after a couple of hours, I realized that I had completely forgotten about these stresses. I sat astonished. For a week, my mind was flooded with worry, and within a couple of hours of painting, the "noise" was silenced. What an amazing and powerful tool it is to lose yourself in something you love doing. I hope that this weekend you lose yourself in your passion, whatever that may be. Dance, sing, paint, play the piano, build a bookshelf, whatever it is that takes you away, do it.
Peace and Love!
